Ryan McGinley is an American photographer living in NYC who began taking photographs in 1998. He started with photography as a teenager documenting his friends in NY. In 2003, at the age of 24, he was the youngest artist to have a solo show at the Whitney Museum of American Art. He was also named Photographer of the Year in 2003 by American Photo Magazine. In 2007 McGinley was awarded the Young Photographer Infinity Award.
He used to only take pictures of his friends but his newest photographs are shot mainly in a natural settings and focused on subjects interacting spontaneously. Mainly... all his stuff is nude! haha.. but it worked great for Sigur Ros! The video for the first track from the album, "Gobbledigook" is also inspired by his work.
